STATEMENT

I feel compelled to share the overlooked and forgotten details I find so magical in familiar places and experiences, where I am most interested in the quiet beauty of utterly ordinary and unnoticed scenery, as well as the often-surprising or humorous intersections of science and daily life. I am constantly seduced by the quality of light, color, and composition in 17th century Dutch paintings; the forced perspective in natural history dioramas; and the lyrical beauty of Andy Goldsworthy's sculpture.

Though I feel like a painter, I lack those specific skills, so my camera becomes my brush, film and the happy accidents of working with chemistry the paint, as I render my visions, feelings, and impressions.

BIO

My work has been featured in solo and group shows in the United States and China, is held in private collections, and was acquired in 2008 by 4Culture, a Seattle WA public art initiative. I am honored to have been an invited artist to the 2009 China Lishui International Photographic Cultural Festival Lishui, Zhejiang, China, with a solo show of my Certain Places series, where my work was acquired by the Lishui Photography Museum.
