SKY VILLAGE SWAP MEET ART SHOW: Oct 25-26th

I am showing new mixed media work & offering small prints and sewn goods for sale at the art show organized by High Desert Test Sites, in conjunction with the swap meet. It’s difficult to explain the magic that is Sky Village, but trust me, it’s worth the drive for a day of escape to surreal landscapes, creosote scented breezes, art high/low & sifting through old fashioned swap meet junk to maybe, just maybe, discover a gem.

Hope to see you there!

LOVE NOTE

My 12 year old nephew Domenik made this to-do list during his annual summer visit. I found it sitting on a pile of papers on my desk a few days after he left.

FORGOTTEN PHOTOS,

other people's lives

The look and feel of found images tugs at my insides, merging with the sometimes foggy, sometimes crystal clear memories I have of my childhood in the 1960's. As I close my eyes to view my own internal snapshots and flickering home movies, they merge with the artifacts I find in musty antique stores, yard sales, and junk shops, and it seems that I was actually there in every forgotten photo, and discarded reel of film. Cradling a yellowed fragile print in my hands as my surroundings drift away, I feel the sunlight, hear the sprinklers on the lawn, and drink in the scent of warm summer dust, and dry leaves.

A creative exploration with Marilyn J. Galosy

We began our collaboration in 2009.

Since then we've curated a year of group shows at an alternative gallery space, created our photographic series 123XYZ, sent ourselves on annual art retreats, made our collaborative work available for sale, and explored new art mediums. We meet regularly to critique, question, and push each other to keep moving forward in our own art practices.

In 2013 on our first annual retreat, Marilyn and I created troutdreams, the place where we document our creative process experiments.
Visit troutdreams to follow our wandering, flowing river of exploration.
